The long-term goal of the forum is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity through the formation of interdisciplinary research-practice partnerships aimed at developing effective, family-focused obesity prevention strategies. Particularly, we aim to link the Core Nutrition Messages for Preschoolers and parent-child feeding interactions in future childhood obesity research and prevention efforts.
Forum participants will work to identify opportunities for research, curriculum development, and extension programming that connect research on parental feeding and child eating behaviors and the Core Messages. We will summarize these gaps and opportunities and form one or more multi-state, collaborative workgroups to execute projects addressing these opportunities.
The forum is partially funded by an Agriculture and Food Research Initiative NRI conference grant. Forum participants may request partial travel reimbursement.
